1) Use either a ruler or measuring tape to measure your screen.  Remember the measurement units are inches not centimetres! 

2) Use the ruler/tape and measure from the top corner diagonally down to the bottom corner going either left to right or right to left.  Measure the full screen size that you can see.

8 inches to 13 inches – Most netbooks fall under the category however there are a few high end laptops that also have these smaller screens.

14 inches to 16 inches – The majority of laptops fall under this ranges – 15.4″ & 15.6″ being the most common.

17 inches and upwards – These are really your desktop replacement laptops – much bigger and have large LCD panels.
